Mark Cuban Billionaire Sells More Than a Dozen NFTs in Two Days and Lists Two Others for Sale

Notable billionaire Mark Cuban has recently released a collection of more than a dozen non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that he had held onto for years without any activity. Over the weekend and into Monday, Cuban put up a total of 14 NFTs for sale, with the standout being a “Pudgy Penguin” token that fetched close to $31,000 in Ethereum (ETH) on his OpenSea profile.
Among these NFTs are two that are still available for purchase. One is the “MFFL” token, priced at over $51,000 in ETH, and the other is the “Deuteronomy 25:4” token, valued at more than $17,000 in the second-largest cryptocurrency.
Before this recent flurry of NFT sales, Cuban’s last NFT transaction on OpenSea took place around 2.5 years ago. The Shark Tank personality has previously voiced his positive outlook on the NFT space, emphasizing its potential within the book-publishing industry. In a 2022 interview with Forbes, Cuban spoke about the promising prospects of NFTs as a format for textbooks, highlighting the advantages they offer in terms of royalties and ongoing revenue for authors and publishers.
By converting textbooks into NFTs, Cuban sees an opportunity to streamline the process of buying and selling educational materials, eliminating the hassle associated with physical copies. He believes that implementing royalties through NFTs can ensure that creators and publishers receive fair compensation with each resale, unlike traditional books where revenue generation is limited by physical wear and tear.
