Starbucks has announced the discontinuation of its loyalty program, Starbucks Odyssey, which rewards participants with non-fungible tokens (NFTs) minted on the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain. The program, which was launched for beta testing in December 2022, allowed members to earn NFTs called “Journey Stamps” and bonus points through themed activities. However, after almost two years, Starbucks has decided to end the program. Members have until March 25th to complete their remaining Journeys before Odyssey officially ends on March 31st.
Although the program is being discontinued, the Journey Stamps will still be accessible on the NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway. These digital collectibles can also be traded on other platforms. Starbucks announced that the Odyssey marketplace will transition to the Nifty marketplace, allowing users to continue buying, selling, and transferring their stamps. Additionally, users have the option to withdraw their Stamps to an external wallet and trade them on other platforms.
Starbucks’ NFTs have garnered interest from collectors in the past. For example, the Holiday Cheer Edition stamp, released on December 16th, 2022, sold for an average price of $883.20. Similarly, the 2,000 Siren Collection stamps, priced at $100 each, sold out within minutes when they were launched in March of last year.
