Uniswap Labs Introduces Mainnet for New Ethereum Layer-2 Unichain

Uniswap Labs, the team behind the popular decentralized exchange Uniswap (UNI), has officially launched its new Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 blockchain.

According to a recent announcement from Uniswap Labs, the Unichain mainnet has been launched today as planned. Unichain is specifically designed to optimize decentralized finance (DeFi) transactions on the Ethereum network.

Starting from today, developers can utilize Unichain to deploy applications and build with stablecoins. Users of the new layer-2 blockchain will be able to fund their wallets, launch tokens, explore new applications, provide liquidity, and perform swaps, as stated in the blog post.

In a post on the social media platform X, Unichain detailed the main advantages of the new blockchain in three points:

– Unichain mainnet is now live.
– It offers fast transactions with low fees.
– It is built to facilitate cross-chain liquidity.
– It prioritizes decentralization right from the beginning.

Unichain quickly gained support, with leading US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announcing its support for the new blockchain. Coinbase users can now convert fiat currency to cryptocurrency seamlessly on Unichain, with fee-free USDC on-ramping available from the launch.

Uniswap Labs previously announced the launch of the mainnet last month, stating that once the safety and stability of the new system are confirmed, the mainnet will be open to the public. Users will be able to directly bridge their funds to the network, and applications that support Unichain will go live.
